About the Kookaburra
Kingfisher family, which live in Australia and New Guinea. The laughing kookaburra is a stocky greyish-brown bird with a barred back and a white head with brown streaks on the crown. Wings are light blue-brown. About 46cm long, largest in its family. Feeds mainly on large insects, mice, small birds and small snakes. Female lays from two to four round white eggs in the nest, which is usually a hole in a tree.
